Maar in werkelijkheid leidde luitenant John Fremont in 1842 een expeditie op een zijrivier van de Missouri. Voor dit avontuur bouwden Fremont en zijn hulpje het eerste rubberen vlot, waarmee ze de basis legden voor wat het moderne raften zou worden...<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rafting<\/strong> werd vaak gebruikt als een <strong>militaire vaartuigen<\/strong> om mensen en uitrusting te vervoeren over <strong>rivieren<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In 1940 werd de Salmon River een van de eerste rivieren waar begeleide rafttochten door het Amerikaanse wildwater werden aangeboden.
