Day rafting trip down the Gave de Pau from Lourdes to Lestelle-Betharram, Pyrenees

Sporty descent
3h30 to 4h sailing time
From 10 years old, able to swim
Lestelle-Bétharram
Early April to late June

We propose a rafting trip down the Gave de Pau, a river that rises in the famous Gavarnie circus (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) in the Hautes-Pyrénées. Between Lourdes and Lestelle-Betharram, these waters form the region's most famous rapids.

Come and relax for a day of rafting in the Pyrenees, in the heart of the wilderness that our guides will help you discover. From the famous town of LourdesYou'll have a great time with your family or friends, as the route winds its way through class II-III rapids. After a picnic break and the crossing of Saint-Pé-de-Bigorre, you'll come to the most beautiful rapids of the descent: the "flip-flap" and the Bétharram canoe-kayak basin, venue for national and international competitions. You will finish the descent in Béarn, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department, after passing through the spectacular 17th-century sanctuaries of Lestelle-Bétharram.

You don't need to be an experienced paddler, this descent is suitable for all levels, beginners and experienced alike. This is a white-water sporting activity: in spring, the water level swells thanks to the melting snowThere is plenty of snow in the Hautes-Pyrénées, which makes the route even more challenging! In summer, the activity is suitable for a wider public: children and adults. Rafting is a great way to have fun and cool off!
